Arlie Y. Mooney, 95, died November 29, 12998, at the Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore, Kansas.
She was born March 5, 1903, in rural Jetmore, the daughter of John and Hettie Herber Thresher. A longtime resident of the Jetmore area, she was a homemaker and teacher.
A graduate of Niederacher High School, Jetmore, she also attended Kansas State University. She taught school in the Rural Middle Branch east of Hanston, and for USD 61 Fairview south of Jetmore. She worked at the Hodgeman Community Courthouse where she helped organize the inception of the A.S.C.S. farm programs. Later she was employed at the Farmers State Bank. She was also a 50-year member of the Lucy Holbrook Eastern Star.
On April 24, 1937, she married James P. Mooney at Kinsley, Kansas. He died November 27, 1992.
Survivors include five nieces and five nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; one brother, Charles; three sisters, Mabel, Ina and Etta.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at the United Methodist Church, Jetmore. Burial was at the Fairmount Cemetery.
