The funeral for Mae Q. McDowell will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. McDowell, 83, of Central Point, died Thursday (July 27, 2000) at her home.

She was born March 22, 1917, in Glasgow, Mt., a daughter of Alexander and Molly (Nelson) Quenette.

On Aug. 12, 1938, in Chicago, she married Chauncey R. McDowell, who died in 1992. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1964 from California.

Mrs. McDowell owned and operated Economy Market in Central Point for seven years. She also worked as a cook at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was a member of the Central Point City Council and the Central Point Budget Committee. She also did volunteer work with ACCESS, and was amateur athlete of the week at Powerhouse Gym.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Burns, Eagle Point, Cynthia Brickley, Salem, and Dennise Mock, Gleneig, Maryland; a brother, Roy Quenette, Genoa, Ill.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
