Walter Mayberry, son of the late Joseph and Matilda (Kleffer) Mayberry, was born in Stoddard County on April 24, 1921, and died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at the age of 81. On Jan. 17, 1947, he was married to Marie Arnold, and she survives of the home.

He was a WW II Air Force veteran, worked at General Motors for 30 years in welding maintenance retiring in 1983, and loved traveling and photography.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Mayberry of Swayzee, Ind.; three sons, Ronald C. Mayberry of New Braunfels, Texas, Michael A. Mayberry of Richmond, Ind., and Terry E. Mayberry of Fenton, Mich.; one daughter, Brenda D. Romine of Swayzee, Ind.; three sisters, Lillian Vieth of Paducah, Ky., Doris Barber of Dexter, and Joyce Fritts of Pacific; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Ind. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home with Pastor Floyd E. Vieth, Jr. and Pastor Terry Vishie officiating. Interment will follow in Thrailkill Cemetery at Swayzee, Ind.
