Gladys E. Mansell, 85, 501 Hart St., died at 1:25 a.m. today in Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born on March 6, 1897 in McLeansboro, Ill., she was the daughter of Charles H. and Josephine (Anderson) Hawkins.  Her husband, Leonard Mansell, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mansell, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the YMCA Auxiliary, was the oldest active member of the Gray Ladies of Good Samaritan Hospital.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Lucille) Frey, Mrs. Fritz (Dorothy) Liebermann and Mrs. Gerald (Midge) Minderman, all of Vincennes; brothers, Walter Hawkins of Christopher, Ill., and Howard Hawkins of Elgin, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending at the Gardner Funeral Home.
