Arthur Leroy "Lee" Maney, age 60 of Weaverville, died Monday, July 30, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Maney was born March 23, 1947 in Buncombe County where he had lived all his life. He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Buron Vinson Maney and a daughter, Laura Jane Maney.
He is survived by his love, Kathy Lunsford and her daughter, Melody Chandler and grandson, Hunter Chandler; daughter, Crystal Buckner and husband, James of Weaverville and step-daughters, Amber and Michelle; son, Brian Maney and wife, Charli of Weaverville; mother, Myrtle Maney of Barnardsville; sisters, Sharon Allison of Asheville, Vikki Banks of Weaverville and Linda Shope of Asheville; brothers, Phil Maney of Conway, SC, Dan Maney and Tony Maney both of Weaverville; grandchildren, Allison and Cailyn Maney.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Keith Watkins officiating. Burial was in Maney Branch Cemetery.
Lee requested that his motorcycle friends take one last ride with him.
The family received friends Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.
