SALAMANCA - Mrs. Anna E. Lockwood, 87, formerly of Little Valley and Salamanca, died Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) at the Cuba Nursing Home, following a long illness.  Born May 4, 1918 in Napoli, she was the daughter of the late Nelson & Eva Averill Bliss.

She was married on Feb. 5, 1938 in Little Valley to William H. Lockwood, who predeceased her on Dec. 4, 1983.

Mrs. Lockwood graduated from the former WCA Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a registered nurse.

She operated the Lockwood Nursing Home in Salamanca for over 17 years. She also worked at the former Van Slyke Nursing Home in Randolph.

Upon retirement she moved to Port Charlotte , Fla. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Surviving are one daughter, Judith Nelson of North Port, Fla.; two sons: William (Joan) Lockwood of Little Valley, Dean (Joan) Lockwood of Allegany; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Bliss of Dayton.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Shirley Keller Keator; one brother, Asher Nelson Bliss; three sisters, Helen Remington, Lorena Seaton and Gertrude Noble and a very dear granddaughter, Anna Marie Heinaman.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Dr. Robert Samuels, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Salamanca, officiating.

Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery in Maplehurst.
