Bud D. Killmer, son of the late H. T. Killmer and Laura Lula Waggoner Killmer, was born on Dec. 30, 1934, at Pyletown and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the age of 68.
Bud was a charter member of the Friendship Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board and the Administrative Board. He was a retired member of the 1221st Transportation Company in the Dexter, Missouri, National Guard, a veteran of the Gulf War, Operation Desert Shield/Storm, a retired employee of Brown Shoe company in Dexter, and for the past five years an employee of The Daily Statesman.
On Nov. 11, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Asbell, and she survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Elizabeth "Libby" Killmer of Pittsburg, Kan.; two sisters, Zelda King of O'Fallon, and Irene Willis of Grand Blanc, Mich.; one granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Killmer of Pittsburg, Kan.; and two grandsons, Cody Lee Killmer and Colt Wesley Killmer, both of Pittsburg, Kan.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo Eason, George Killmer, and Rex Killmer; four sisters, Faye Smith, Wanda Lee Porch, Lola Kastner and Naomi McClard.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Keith Garland and Rev. Mike Watkins officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter.
