Rev. Leona Bea Kelso of Des Plaines, Illinois, born March 20, 1904 in Sac City, Iowa, crossed the eternal bridge to her spirit home on March 27th, 1946, at the age of 42 years and 7 days after a siege of illness. At an early age the spirit world was very happy to use her as an instrument to bring happiness to those with her on this plane of life. Then in 1934, she was very happy to be one of the charter members of the First Spiritualist Church of Cicero, Illinois.
In May 1935, she went out in the world demonstrating the truth to those she contacted as a certified Medium. All who were ill in anyway, she was happy to give her all through the power of Healing, which Certified Commission she held. The goal she set for herself she accomplished and in May 1940 was given a commission as a Licentiate Minister by the Illinois State Spiritualist Association.
During this time she was never too tired to help any Church who asked for her services and anyone who came to her for consolation. Then on July 8, 1945 she received her Ordination to Ministry given her at the First Spiritualist Church of Cicero, Illinois, by the parent body, the National Spiritualist Association.
Her earthly presence will be missed by her beloved parents, Dr. and Mrs. S.W. Kelso, two brothers, many relatives and hundreds of friends she made. In loving tribute to her the following poem was quoted at the funeral services: "She bid no one a last farewell, she said good-bye to none; Her loving heart had ceased to beat before we knew she was gone. She did not fail to do her best, and her heart was true and tender; She worked hard for those she left and ever will be remembered.
