Oscar Eugene Jones, 87, of Diamond Springs, died Oct. 25 at a local hospital.  He was born in Grizzly Flat and lived all of his life in El Dorado county.  He was the son of pioneer California settlers and gold miners in El Dorado county.

Mr. Jones worked as a timber cruiser for many years.  Recently he operated a cattle ranch in Diamond Springs.

He was a 50-year member of the El Dorado lodge 26, F. & A. M. of Placerville, past patron and member of OEC chapter 499 of El Dorado, and member of IOOF of Diamond Springs.

Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Emily J. Warner of Diamond Springs; a son, Charles Oscar Jones of Georgetown; sisters, Hazel Sands of Auburn, Mildred Dunston of Rancho Cordova, and Ivy Wilhoite of Fair Oaks; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Chapel of the Pines under the auspices of  El Dorado Lodge F. & A. M.  Interment was in the family plot at the Diamond Springs IOOF Cemetery.
