Ida Margaret
Black Hunter, age 91, of 14 9th St., Woodside, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001.
Mrs. Hunter was born Sept. 6, 1909, in Buncombe County, N.C., and was a resident
of Greenville for most of her life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Ida was the daughter of the late Pitt and Mary Elizabeth Garrison Black, and
wife of Weaver W. Hunter, who died in 1961.
Surviving are her daughters, June Gilstrap and her husband, Clayton, Betty
Walker and her husband, Tommy, all of Greenville, and Carolyn Shelton and her
husband, Fred, of Easley; a son, Johnny Hunter and his wife, Sherrie, of
Williamston; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Locust Grove Cemetery,
Weaverville with the Rev. Steve Wakefield, Mrs. Hunter's grandson, officiating.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave.,
Weaverville, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
