Eula Horn of Eckert died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 96.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Cedaredge. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 28, at 10 a.m. at Eckert Presbyterian Church with Max Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow at Eckert Cemetery.

Mrs. Horn was born Nov. 14, 1911, in Eckert, to George and Mittie (Austin) Hawkins. She spent her childhood and attended school in Eckert.

She married Moad Horn on Dec. 24, 1928, in Cedaredge. They celebrated nearly 80 years of marriage. He died Feb. 13, 2008.

Mrs. Horn enjoyed gambling, camping, playing cards, her family and snowmobiling on Grand Mesa. She was an accomplished pianist.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Richard "R.D" and Bobbie of Eckert; a daughter, Sharon Luster of Tye, Texas; a sister, Thelma Anderson of Oregon; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by her husband, Moad Horn; a daughter, Phyllis Rogers; and a brother, Clarence Hawkins.
