OBITUARY

Name:   Margaret Lydia Hickox

From:  The North Adams Transcript, North Adams, Massachusetts
Date:  Monday, August 1, 1938

Miss Margaret Lydia Hickox, 20, clerk of records in the offices of the Secretary to the Society of the Alumni at Williams College, died late last night in the home of her mother, Mrs. Hawley Cummings, and Mr. Cummings of 100 Water Street.

Taken ill on Christmas day, Miss Hickox had since been confined to her home.  Her condition became critical some time ago.

Born in Williamstown, Miss Hickox was the daughter of Mrs. Cummings and the late Henry Hickox.  She attended the public schools here and graduated from Williamstown high school with the class of 1935.

Early in 1936, Miss Hickox entered the alumni office where she subsequently succeeded Stanton A. Fell, now of New York City, as clerk of records.

A girl of many fine qualities and much personal charm, Miss Hickox had many friends and acquaintances in the community, all of whom are greatly saddened to learn of her passing.  During her long illness, she had displayed an admirable fortitude that those who dropped in to call found inspiring.  Besides her mother and step-father, Miss Hickox leaves one brother, Guy Hickox also of Williamstown.

The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in St. John's church with the Rector, Rev. D. A. Grant Noble officiating.
