Reuben L. Harper dies in St. Louis.
Reuben L. Harper, 61, native of Stoddard County and an apartment
custodian in St. Louis died February 9, at his home. Born May 24, 1899,
near Bloomfield, he made his home in the community until 16 years ago when he
moved to St. Louis. He resided there until his death. He was married
to the former Miss Thelma Alsup at Bloomfield.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Joe Harper of
St. Louis, Don Harper of Bloomfield; Mrs. Virginia Grant, of San Antonio, Tex.;
and Mrs. Linda Metzner of Sheboygan, Wis.; 7 grandchildren. Also remaining
are two brothers, William J Harper and T. M. Harper, both of Bloomfield, and
four sisters, Mrs. Elza Grayum, of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Bess Wilson, of Cape
Girardeau; Mrs. Neva Robinson, of Dupo, Ill.; and Mrs. Betty Patterson, of
Georgetown Tex.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Idalia General Baptist
Church with the Rev. Don Cooper, pastor of the church, officiating assisted by
the Rev. Mack Williams. Burial was in Bluff Cemetery under the direction
of Chiles Funeral Chapel.
