June Harper, 96, of Carmi, formerly of Norris City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.    

June was born Nov. 29, 1914 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Elmer and Flora Anne (Hamilton) Cox. She married Ray Keasler Harper on Sept. 13, 1936, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1998. June was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church near Norris City.

June is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Armstrong of Crossville; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Harper of Norris City; two sisters, Kathryn Dillsworth of McLeansboro and Wanda Robeff of Granite City; a brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Maureen Cox of Granite City; four grandchildren, Angela Rae and Rob Sperry, Timothy Ray and Lori Armstrong, James Gregory Armstrong and Jay Patrick Armstrong; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Sue Armstrong, Trevor Ray Armstrong and Madeline Rose Armstrong; a sister-in-law, Louise and John Storey of Enfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Gerald Ray Harper; three sisters, Ruby Vuehrer, Jean Tinsley and Betty Desper; and two brothers, Donald Elmer and Lowell Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
