Funeral services for Jean A. Hardesty, chief engineer for Signal Oil Co., will be conducted at 10 a.m. today from Turner & Stevens Mortuary, Alhambra.  Mr. Hardesty died Tuesday morning at his home, 8315 Youngdale Rd., San Gabriel, after a brief illness.

He came to California from Illinois in 1923 and attended art school here, winning honors in industrial design.  He joined the oil firm in 1938.

Mr. Hardesty leaves his widow, Mrs. Elsie Hardesty; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. William Hardesty; a daughter, Susan; and a sister, Mrs. Rhea Thompson.

Burial will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park.
