WELLSVILLE -- D. Irene Harder, 92, formerly of Early Street, died Tuesday (Jan. 21, 1997) at the Highland Health Care Center.

She was born on Sept. 13, 1904, in Borie, Pa., the daughter of Charles E. and Clara Smith Rennells.  She married Francis "Pete" Harder on Feb. 21, 1926 in Buffalo, N.Y.  He died in 1984.

She was a graduate of Coudersport High School in Pennsylvania and of Buffalo Normal School.  She taught school in Holland and Bolivar and in Honeoye, Pa.  She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge #124 of Wellsville and of the Burton Chapter #120 Order of the Eastern Star of Wellsville.  Mrs. Harder was also an avid card player.

She is survived by one son, William F. (Beverly) Harder of Wellsville; three grandsons, William, Stephen (Mary) and Brian (Susan) Harder; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara and Carolyn, two brothers and four sisters.

Visitors may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23 in the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsville.  A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at the funeral home.  The Rev. William Jones, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate.  Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
