Holger Theodore Hansen, 92, a resident of Swarthmore, PA for 11 years, died on Thursday (July 10, 2003) at Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Lima, PA following a brief illness. He was born on March 23, 1911 in Corning, NY, the son of Halvdan and Gerda C. Hansen. His wife of 66 years, Beatrice G. Hansen, died in July last year.

He is survived by their four children, G. Holger Hansen of Swarthmore, PA, Karen A. Hansen of West Hartford, David T. Hansen of Sacramento, CA, and Diane G. Hansen of Swampscott, MA; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A former resident of West Hartford and Clearwater, FL, Holger Hansen worked as a manager for A.C. Petersen Dairy in West Hartford and for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Greenwich. During his career, he was an active member of the West Hartford United Methodist Church and a Scoutmaster of Troops in Corning and West Hartford and a Commissioner of the Charter Oak and Greenwich Councils of the Boy Scouts. The National Council of the Boy Scouts recognized his service to boyhood with the Silver Beaver Award in 1956 and a 50-year service award in 1977.

A Memorial Service will be held at Swarthmore United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2003. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Swarthmore United Methodist Church, 129 Park Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081, or to the charity of one's choice.
