John William Grassfield, 68, of 56 Dolson avenue, 
died at his home yesterday after a long illness.  He was a dealer in 
petroleum products.
Born in Eldred, Pa., Feb. first 1884, Mr. Grassfield was the son of Delavan and 
Adelaide Morgan Grassfield.  He  and the former Gertrude Pierce were 
married in Middletown Feb. 29, 1948.  He had lived in Middletown for 42 
years and was a member of the Elks lodge.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. 
Genevieve Conneley and Mrs. Corrine Zak of Elmira and Mrs. Olive Willis of 
Covington, Pa.; two sons, John of Fairlawn, N. J. and Ralston of Goshen; a 
brother, Edward Grassfield of Newark, N. J.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Stahl of 
Little Valley; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the home at four tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. Adrian 
Headley of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in Pine Hill 
Cemetery.
Friends may call at the home this evening.  Elks services will be held 
there at eight tonight.
