PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. -- Charles S. Glase, 92, of  2 Vine St. died Saturday (Dec. 16, 1989) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 18, 1897, in Andrews Settlement, Potter County, he was a son of William F. and Fanny West Glase.  On Jan. 15, 1944, in Angelica N.Y., he married the former Elizabeth Galutia, who survives.

A resident of the Port Allegany area for 35 years, Mr. Glase had been employed for 33 years as a bus driver by Greyhound Bus Lines, retiring with a perfect driving record.  He later was a school bus driver for the William Bowan Bus Lines, a caretaker for Fairview Cemetery and a self-employed carpenter.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Frank C. Glase of Port Allegany and Robert C. Glase of Adrian, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. C. Raymond (Marion) Woodruff of Little Valley, N.Y., Mrs. Glendon (Dorothy) Hill of Spring, Texas, Iva Jackson and Mrs. Norman (Linda) Clark, both of Port Allegany; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Glase of Hamburg, N.Y., Clifton Glase of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Walter Glase of Chehalis, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Ross (Doris) Phipps of Verona, N.Y., and Mrs. Elmer (Beatrice) Schuster of Englewood, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, today after 7 p.m. and until time of services Wednesday (Dec. 20, 1989) at 11 a.m.  The Rev. Kenneth Tulloch, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
