SCHUYLERVILLE -- Raymond Henry Germain, 89, died peacefully Monday, July 26, 2004, at the Cambridge Guest Home.

Born March 9, 1915, in Schuylerville, he was the son of the late Polie and Agnes Germain, the beloved husband of 53 years of the late Rose B. (Goodreau) Germain, and brother of the late Kenneth Germain.

Ray retired from the General Electric Company in Schenectady, where he was employed for 34 years, serving as head chef for most of his career, and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club.

He was a lifelong devoted member of the Schuylerville United Methodist Church and was involved in many community activities in the church, the Schuylerville Historical Society, Meals on Wheels and was named Schuylerville Senior Citizen of the Year. He enjoyed gardening and riding his tractor.

He was the devoted father of Raymond S. (Marcia) Germain of Glenville, Stan Germain of Freeport, Long Island, and Mary Anne Germain (Jonathan Kreisberg) of Coventry, Conn.

He was the cherished grandfather of Greg (Shelley) Germain of N.C., Michelle (John) McDonald of East Greenbush, Scott (Janice) Germain of Kingston, Brent (Laura) Germain of Connecticut, Kelly Germain of Connecticut and Kara and Jay Kreisberg of Connecticut. He was proud of his eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Schuylerville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bonnie Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Schuylerville.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave. Schuylerville.
