ASHEVILLE -- William Thomas Bill Garrison, 92, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at his home.

Born on January 26, 1914, he was the son of the late Albert Jerry and Minnie Lee Harrison Garrison. He attended Asheville Farm School (now Warren Wilson College) and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He worked for 34 years at the American Enka Corporation. He was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nine siblings and by two of his children, Carol Ann and Donald William, both of whom died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise Morris Garrison; his son, David Garrison and his wife, Donna Barger, of Washington, D.C.; and his two grandsons, Will Garrison of Minneapolis and Steven Anderson- Garrison of Louisville, Ky.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the reception immediately following the service.
