WEAVERVILLE -- Ruth Carmichael Garrison, 74, of 4 W. Ridgeway Drive, died Sunday at her residence.

A native of Weaverville, she retired from Autrey Smathers Insurance Co. after 45 years of service.  She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Minnie Sue Lee Carmichael.  She was the wife of Harry Garrison, who died in 1976.

Surviving are a daughter, Sue G. Ballard of Raleigh; two sons, James E. "Jim" Garrison and Mike Garrison of Weaverville; two sisters, Marion C. Parker of Weaverville and Margaret Ann Holcombe of Nashville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Weaverville, where she was a member.  The Revs. Bart Hildreth and Lee Roy Denton will officiate.  Burial will be in West Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Funeral Home where the body will remain until one hour before the services.  At other times the family will receive friends at the home of James E Garrison, 114 Dogwood Drive, Weaverville.
