CAVE CITY — Novelene Bell Garrison, 84, of Cave
City died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in a Cave City nursing home.
Born July 22, 1926, at Cave City, she was the daughter of Alvis Jasper Bell and
Gertha Alma Felts Bell. She was a homemaker and a farmer, raising cattle and
watermelons.
She had been a member of Eutopia Missionary Baptist Church since the age of 13,
and she served as the church clerk. She served as secretary for the Pleasant
Valley Cemetery Association. She taught in a one-room school at Cotton Hill
during World War II. She served as a foster grandparent at Cave City Elementary
School for 22 years. She enjoyed traveling and vegetable and flower gardening
and was a member of Sidney Extension Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Blackburn and Sandra Coe, both of Cave
City; two brothers, Velmus Bell and Charles Bell, both of Cave City; two
sisters, Eudell Matlock of Melrose, Mich., and Glenna Lassiter of Cave City;
three grandchildren, Nickolas Coe, David Blackburn and Stacey Britton; and
several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Paul Garrison; twin
daughters; and a brother, Albert Bell.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Eutopia Missionary Baptist Church,
located west of Cave City, with James Smith and Mike Downing officiating. Burial
will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Cave City under the direction of
Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers will be Larry Thorne, Danny Howell, Joey Christopher, Harold Stuntz,
Wendell Parker and Gilbert McCracken.
No visitation is planned.
