WEAVERVILLE – Mary Alice Garrison, 81, of Weaverville, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007.
Mrs. Garrison was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Holly Springs, Ga., to the late Charles C. and Lois Dobson Clayton. She was the wife of the late James Robert Garrison who died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Zinnie, Charles Columbus and George Kenneth Clayton.
Mary Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her children: daughter, Carol Clevenger and husband, Mitch, of Weaverville, son, Clay Garrison and wife, Patti of Greenville, S.C., and daughter, Suzi Silvers of Leicester; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Martin and husband, Gene, of Fayetteville, Ga.; brother, Paul Clayton and wife, Jean, and sister, Jeanette Smiley and husband, Henderson, all of Ocala, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church, Weaverville, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Jim McCoy officiating.
Burial will be in Old Weaverville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
