WEAVERVILLE – James Harold Garrison, age 87, of
Pickens Road died Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Garrison was born February 27, 1923, in Buncombe County where he had lived
all of his life. He worked as a farmer, in construction, and as a wood
craftsman. Mr. Garrison was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church for 73
years. He was a son of the late J. Ed and Janie Black Garrison. In addition to
his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Roberts,
Robbie Garrison, Awanda Clark; brothers, Carl and Alton Garrison; and nephew,
Gene Garrison.
Surviving are his niece, Judy Roberts and husband Bud; nephews, Welmon Roberts
and wife Nancy who helped him in his later days, and Stewart Clark and wife
Kelly; three great nephews; two great great nieces; two great great nephews; and
one great great great nephew.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010, in
the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. Ben
Whitmire and Mervin Garrison officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral
home.
