Howard "Vern" Garrison, 87, of Evansville, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, at River Pointe Health Campus.

He formerly owned and operated G&H Auto Salvage on North Fares Ave. Vern formerly attended Bible Center Cathedral and Mt. Olive Church in Newburgh. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Howard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene; daughters, Kathy Abell, Terry Allan and husband, David, Mary Besing and husband, Billy; sons, Danny Garrison and wife, Terry, Ronnie Garrison and wife, Brendia, daughter, Charlotte Hawes; sisters, Robina Stokes and Billye Winston; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia Reynolds in 2004, and Verna Basilo in 2008.

Services will be Monday, March 9, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 First Ave., Evansville, Ind. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2009, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
