SHONGO -- Mrs. Elva Galutia, 86, of Shongo, died Sunday (March 19, 1978) in the Jones Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Born Feb 22, 1892 in Jasper, she was a daughter of Frank and Ella Benedict Hill.  On Oct. 13, 1913, she married Leon W. Martin who predeceased her Feb. 16, 1917.  On Feb. 5, 1939, she married Leo Galutia, who predeceased her on Sept. 11, 1967.  She had attended the Canisteo High School.

A resident of Shongo for 53 years, Mr. and Mrs. Galutia had owned and operated a grocery store in Shongo.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shongo and the First United Methodist Church Women; the Shongo Community Club; the Yorks Grange; member of the Canisteo Chapter 210 Order of the Eastern Star; and a past matron and member of the Rebekah Lodge 124 of Wellsville.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rolland (Genevieve) Perry of Shongo; a foster daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Arlene) Riley of Wellsville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Mason T. Dye Funeral Home, 223 N. Main St., Wellsville, today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday (March 21, 1978) at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John W. Olosky, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Rebekah Lodge 124 will conduct memorial services in the funeral home today at 7:30 p.m.

SHONGO --  Mrs. Elva Galutia of Shongo died Sunday in Jones Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 22, 1892 in Jasper, She was the daughter of Frank and Ella Benedict Hill.  She lived in Shongo for 53 years.

On Oct. 13, 1913, she married Leon W. Martin, who predeceased her of Feb. 16, 1917.  She later married Leo Galutia of Feb. 5, 1939.  He died on Sept. 11, 1967.

Mrs. Galutia and her late husband operated a grocery store in Shongo for several years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shongo; the First United Methodist Church Women; Shongo Community Club; York's Grange; the Canisteo Chapter #210 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past matron and member of the Rebekah Lodge -- 124 of Wellsville.

Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Rolland (Genevieve) Perry of Shongo; one foster daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Arlene) Riley of Wellsville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Mason T. Dye Funeral Home in Wellsville from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today where a memorial service will be conducted by the Rebekahs at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. on Tuesday with the Rev. John W. Olosky, pastor of the Shongo First United Methodist Church, officiating. 

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
