Susie Alberta Galusha died
Friday, June 26, 2009, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 101 years
old.
Susie was born on Sept. 7, 1907, at the family farm near Marion in Red Willow
County to Albert Hiland and Flora Dena (Martin) Wagy. She lived in a sod house
as a child and attended rural school near Marion.
On Jan. 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to John J. "Jack" Galusha in
Oberlin, Kan. To this union one daughter, Kathleen, was born. They made their
home on a farm near Marion where Susie was a busy homemaker, mother, and an
instrumental part of the farming operation. She was also employed by the Marion
Schools as a custodian.
Susie attended the Marion Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed
gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Albert and Flora Wagy; her husband,
Jack; three sisters, Iva Sigwing, Ethel Thompson, Lavon Guinn and one sister in
infancy; two brothers, Floyd Wagy, Wilmer Wagy and two brothers in infancy.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen and husband, Bob Haag, of Indianola;
three grandchildren, Andrew Haag and wife, Elizabeth, of Holdrege, Alexander
Haag of Indianola, and Lindsey and husband, Nicholas Koehn, of Lincoln; and two
great-grandchildren, Dylan and Allyson Haag.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon and Sunday from 4 p.m. until

Funeral services will be Monday, June 29, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland
Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury Marion
Cemetery.
