Shirley Ann Galusha, of Roseburg, Oregon, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 15, 2010, at the age of 74. She was born on December 14, 1935, in La Harpe, Illinois to parents Jesse and Lena (Grace) Welch.

Shirley attended college in Chicago, Illinois to become an RN. Nursing was second nature to Shirley and next to her family it was her greatest passion. She has left a lasting legacy in the nurses she has encouraged and trained. Her second home was Mercy Medical Center where she had worked for 38 years.


Shirley was preceded in death but joined in heaven by her husband Rodney whom she married on February 17, 1956.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Galusha and her son, James; son, Mitch and his wife, Michelle Galusha and their children, Paul, Amanda, Jennifer, Hazel, Camie and Torie; son, Mark and his wife, Patti and their children, Alese, Alyssa, Tony, Michael and Austin; daughter, Debbie and her husband, Kelly Willis and their sons, Divenson and Dishawn; honorary children and grandchildren, Adam and Sherri Willis and their daughter, Emily, Amanda Kobel and Christine Phipps. Shirley has five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, per her request, donations may be made in her name to Mercy Foundation, 2700 Stewart Parkway Roseburg, Oregon, 97471. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center Conference Room at 6 p.m.
