Rodney ‘Rod’ Gene Galusha, age 70, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2005. He was born on October 17, 1934, in Abingdon, Illinois, son of Raymond and Vera (Amos) Galusha.

He was raised and educated in Illinois, graduating from Western Illinois University as a teacher. Rod was united in marriage to Shirley Welch on February 17, 1956, in La Harpe, Illinois. They moved to Oregon in 1967 and settled in the Roseburg area. Rod went to work teaching and coaching in the Roseburg School System, while Shirley went to work as a nurse at Mercy Hospital. He retired several years ago.

Mr. Galusha enjoyed sports and cribbage and he was an avid reader. He also enjoyed yard sales, but his real love was family and he was a grandpa to many kids. He will be missed.

He leaves his wife of over forty-nine years, Shirley of Roseburg. He is also survived by his children, Denise Galusha of Roseburg; Mitch Galusha and his wife, Michelle of Roseburg; Mark Galusha of Portland; and Debbie Willis and her husband, Kelly of Roseburg. Rod had 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Mercy Administration Education Fund at 2700 Stewart Parkway, in Roseburg, Oregon.
