Name:   Matilda L. (Walthers) Galusha

Mrs. Matilda W. Galusha, 82, of  26 Glen Ave., South Corning, died Tuesday at 6:10 p.m. in Corning Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Syracuse Jan.1, 1889, she was the daughter of Conrad and Emma Wikert Walthers.  She married Joseph C. Galusha in Corning Sept. 8, 1909.  He died in 1961.

Mrs. Galusha was a 59-year resident of the city and was a member of the Corning Lodge of Rebekahs, War Mothers, and Corning Area Senior Citizens.  She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Corning.

Surviving are: four sons, Irving, Paul and Kenneth Galusha all of Corning, and Harold Galusha of Monterey; two daughters, Mrs. Wallace (Thelma) Woodcock of Florida, and Mrs. Henry (Emma) Konopski of Corning; two half-brothers, Henry Walthers of Montour Falls and Robert Walthers of Elmira Heights; three half-sisters, Mrs. Chester Hayes of Odessa, Mrs. Charles Michaels of Elmira and Mrs. Elizabeth Rew of Fairfield, Conn.; 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at Stover's Funeral Home Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul A. Appel, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.  The Rebekah service will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m.  Burial will be in Barnard Cemetery, Town of Corning.  In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Corning.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Galusha of 24 Glen Ave., South Corning, who died Tuesday in Corning Hospital, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the former Bethany Methodist Church at 124 Reynolds Ave.

Arrangements are being handled by Stover's Funeral Home.
