Leora J. Galusha, age 77, of Monmouth, Ill., passed away at 1:26 p.m. on Friday,
December 25, 2009, at her residence. On January 4, 1932, Leora was born in
Monmouth the daughter of Edgar V. and Edith Murrell Icenogle.
A graduate of Monmouth High School, Leora attended Carl Sandburg College in
Galesburg, Ill., and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Illinois
University in Macomb, Ill.
On June 1, 1952, she married Ellwood Galusha in Monmouth. He preceded her in
death on January 3, 1969.
For a time Leora was employed as a clerk in the Hamilton Store in Yellowstone
National Park. Leora did child care in her home. Leora was a member of
Foursquare Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Surviving are three daughters, Lee Ann Galusha of Chenega Bay, Alaska, Gayelynn
Worcester of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Toni Kay Barry of Rockford, Ill.
Also surviving are four sisters, Julia Lovdahl of Monmouth, Barbara Lovdahl of
Monmouth, Reva Zielke of Alexis, Ill., and Janice Rader of Galesburg.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, one daughter and one brother.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2009,
at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. The family will be present to receive
friends from Noon to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. A memorial
fund is being established for the Foursquare Church.
