OBITUARY

Name:   Thyrza Louise (Carpenter) Ferris

Mrs. Thyrza Louise Ferris, 68, of Little Marsh, PA, died Sunday in Soldiers and Sailors Hospital at Wellsboro, PA., after an illness of nearly a year. She was the sister of Paul L. Carpenter of Painted Post and Valorus Carpenter of Gibson. 

A resident of Little Marsh most of her life, she was born there on October 28, 1894 to Edward and Mary Hulslander Carpenter.  She married Lyle Ferris in Little Marsh on Sept. 10, 1918. 

Mrs. Ferris was a graduate of Mansfield State Normal, now Mansfield State Teachers College, at Mansfield, PA, and operated a store in Woodhull before teaching for a time at Middletown, Del.  She was a member of the Methodist Church of Little Marsh and was past matron of the Woodhull Chapter, OES. 

Surviving besides her husband and brothers are:  daughter, Mrs. John Van Horn of Michigan; sister, Mrs. Harold Wilson of Mansfield; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. 

The body is at the Carpenter Funeral Home at Painted Post.  Friends may call today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Mr. Schrawder of the Little Marsh Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Keeneyville Cemetery at Keeneyville, PA.
