Services will take place Friday for George Holmes Edwards, 86, of 84 Orchard Park, Fairfield, retired secretary of the International Silver corporation in Meriden, who died Tuesday in Baltimore, Md., while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Paul Harper.

The Rev. Oliver Carberry will officiate at services at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal church.  Burial will be in Mountain Grove cemetery.

The Wilmot, West and Goulding funeral home, 1209 Post road, Fairfield, is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y., Mr. Edwards resided in this area many years.  He was educated in the Taft school in Waterbury and was graduated from Yale College in 1905.  In 1906, he joined the Holmes and Edwards Silver company.  He remained with the firm until its plant of Seaview avenue closed in 1931.  At that time the company merged with the International Silver company.  Mr. Edwards retired from his position as secretary in 1948.

Mr. Edwards was a member of the Fairfield Beach club, the University club of Bridgeport, the Yale club of New York City, the Fairfield Historical Society, and was an honorary directory of the Bridgeport hospital.

Survivors, in addition to his daughter, are three grandchildren and two nephews.
