RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Mrs. Dorothy M. Eckler, 85, formerly of Richfield Springs, died Monday morning, Feb. 14, 2000, at The Meadows.

She was born on April 25, 1914, at home on the family farm on Wiltsey Hill Road in the town of Stark, a daughter of William and Ella (Shaver) Galusha.

She married Arthur Eckler on Nov. 25, 1936, in Waterville. Mr. Eckler died in 1983.

Throughout her life, Dorothy had been employed by Sure Catch in Richfield Springs, Remington Arms in Ilion, Com-Tone in Canajoharie and had also been a housekeeper for many area residents.

She is survived by her two sisters, Mrs. Vera Young of Fly Creek and Mrs. Freda Jones of Palatine Bridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother, Leland Galusha, who died in 1979; and her niece, Mrs. Ronald (Charlotte) Talbot, who died Dec. 15, 1999.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Springfield Center Cemetery, with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Fly Creek United Methodist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the Richfield Springs Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 1456, Richfield Springs, N.Y. 13439.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
