Port Allegany, PA -- Lewis J. Dibble, 89, of 112 Catlin Ave., died Monday (Nov. 22, 1999) in the Bradford Regional Medical Center in Bradford.

Born July 10, 1910 in Millport, he was a son of George and Elizabeth Church Dibble.  On Dec. 24, 1936, in Weston's Mills, N.Y., he married Mavis E. Stiles, who died May 20, 1968.  On July 20, 1969, in Bolivar, N.Y., he married Erma M. Lewis Jandrew, who survives.

Mr. Dibble worked several years in the Bradford oil fields for the Forest Oil Co. of Bradford.  He worked many years for the Port Allegany Borough as Water Department manager, retiring in 1975.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army 3187th Signal Service Battalion, in the European theater.

He was a graduate of the Shinglehouse High School, class of 1929.

He was a member of the Liberty Lodge 505, Port Allegany, the Coudersport Consistory and was a past Commander of American Legion Post 258 in Port Allegany.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two stepsons, Jack H. Jandrew of Sheffield, PA and Walter Jandrew of Ocala, FL; six step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; three nieces and a nephew.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Wisel and Kathryn Belanger.

There will be no visitation.  Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Port Allegany.
