John L. Dearlove, well known owner of a local insurance agency, of 13 Purdy
Street [Bath], died at 7:28 Monday morning, following an illness of about three

He was born in Prattsburg September 7, 1869 the son of Charles W. and Erva
Barnes Dearlove and moved to Bath from Prattsburg in 1918. He was married in
1895 to Ella Putnam Dearlove, who died a number of years ago.
Mr. Dearlove was active in community affairs in Bath and Prattsburg and in early
life taught school at Naples and Prattsburg. He was a member of Prattsburg
Masonic Lodge, was Commissioner of Welfare in Bath, member of the Centenary
Methodist Church and Church Board of Trustees. He also taught the Lincoln Bible
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Henderson of Hillsdale; Mrs. Theodore
Travis of Allwood, N.J.; sons, Welborne Dearlove of Syracuse, Homer of Hudson
Falls, Hughes of Rillsdale; brother George Dearlove of Prattsburg; sister Mrs.
Erva Horton of Prattsburg and three grandchildren.
The body is at the Waldo Funeral Home and will be taken to the home Tuesday
morning. Final rites will be held Wednesday afternoon from the late home with
the Rev. John O. Mabuce, pastor of the Centenary Methodist Church, in charge.
Interment will be in Nondaga Cemetery.
