TECUMSEH -- Juanita I. Davenport, 80, of Tecumseh died April 21, 2007, in
Herrick Manor, Tecumseh. She was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Tecumseh, the daughter
of Leonard and Leora (Gregg) Furgason. On Feb. 22, 1946, she was united in
marriage with Willis Davenport and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2006.
Juanita worked as a sewing machinist for Fisher Body for over 15 years. She was
a member of the Tipton Grange and was "always on the go." She enjoyed gardening,
crocheting, spending time with her family and bird watching. She spent her
winters in Florida.
Juanita is survived by one son, Fred Davenport of South Rockwood; two daughters,
Carol (Terry Alcock) Rinehart of Britton, and Karen (Richard) Shultis of
Clinton; four brothers, Milford "Bud" Furgason of Britton, Harry Furgason of
Indiana, Walt (Janet) Furgason of Britton, and Jim (Connie) Furgason of Clinton;
two sisters, Jean Jones of Florida and Norma (Alton) Hayford of Britton; five
grandchildren, Kiersten (Phil) Ewington of Adrian, Lisa Perkins of Mason,
Kimberly (Jessie) Jeffrey of Tecumseh, Jennifer (Deven) Knight of Tecumseh, and
Chad (Angie) Shultis of Waterloo, and seven great-grandchildren, Damon,
Elizabeth, Kylie, Jenna, Abigail, Jaylee, and Waylon Scott. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Willis, parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Services for Juanita will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the
Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes, with Pastor Tom Uphaus officiating.
Burial will be at Franklin Cemetery in Tipton. Visitation will be on Monday,
April 23, 2007, at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on
Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests donations to Clinton United Church of Christ or Herrick Manor.
