Jewell "Jo" Chamberlain, 81, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born February 15, 1923 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of William and Gertie Gregory Garrison. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life.
She had been employed at Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works before
retiring. She was a member pf Grace Evangelical Church of Elgin where she
was a helper, greeter, prayer warrior, praise leader and poet for her Savior.
She loved her pastors, her church family and, most of all, her Lord Jesus
Christ. She had been a volunteer at Sherman West Court.
Surviving are her loving children, Candy (Bruce) Minus and Shelley Grafmyre,
both of Elgin, and Craig (Mary) Chamberlain of Bloomington, IL; her precious
grandchildren, Andrew Petit, Joseph Petit and Alexandra (Ryan) Carr;
great-grandchildren, Lauren, Alicia, Hailey and Oliver; a brother, Merle
(Gracie) Garrison of Countryside, IL; sister-in-law, Lois (Gene) Westerman of
South Elgin, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Chamberlain; a
brother, Bob Garrison; and a sister, Pauline Bell.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 2004 at Grace Evangelical Church, 1800 Bowes Rd., Elgin, with Pastor David G. Bohyer officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the services in the church. The family strongly requests that flowers be omitted with memorials made to Grace Evangelical Church.
