Thebes, IL.--GUY W. CARTNER, age 73, of Thebes, died suddenly while supervising work on buildings at his farm near Thebes, Thursday, about 5 p.m.

He was prominent in civic affairs at Thebes, having served as Mayor and served several times as school director in the schools of Thebes. He was also Road Commissioner of Road District No. 4. Mr. Cartner was active in politics, having served as Republican committeeman for the Thebes Precinct for many years.

He is survived by his wife Ella; three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Brown of Thebes, Mrs. Blanche Holmer of Morton, Ill., and Mrs. Lana Tosi of Beverly, Mass.; four sons, Percy of Metropolis, Guy Norman of Paducah, Ky., Oryn of Wichita, Kans., and Wayne of Thebes; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later. Berbling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Guy W. Cartner, age 72, of Thebes, who died suddenly Thursday evening, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Thebes Methodist Church with the Rev. H. S. Smith of Olive Branch, officiating.

Besides relatives mentioned, he is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Stella Dunning of Quincy, Ill.

The body is at the family residence where friends may call. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes. Berbling Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
