PRINCETON -- Richard L. Carter, 77, of Princeton passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born December 12, 1929 in Carmi, Ill. to
J. B. & Goldie (Hollerbach) Carter who preceded him in death.
He has lived for the past 71 years in the Princeton area moving here from Carmi,
Ill. He was a life member of the Prince Lodge No. 231 F & AM, a member of the
Golden Fleece Chapter No. 176 OES, Princeton Elks No. 634, and the VFW Men’s
Auxiliary.
Richard held the longest membership at the Princeton Country Club, being an
active member for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Hillside United
Methodist Church and worked at Potter and Brumfield for 28 years, retiring in
1987 as a production control supervisor.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margery (Kimbrough) Carter; 2 sons &
daughter-in-law, Wayne and Jan Carter of Fort Branch, and Alan Carter of
Indianapolis; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Charles Reed of Princeton;
8 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and nine
step-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Dortha Mae and Kenneth
Fortner of Princeton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the
Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Jarmon Perkins officiating. Burial
will be at Columbia White Church Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday at Colvin Funeral Home. There will be Masonic services by Prince Lodge
No. 231 at 7 P.M. on Wednesday.
