WEAVERVILLE - Burnice Morgan Carter, 81, of Weaverville, died Sunday, April 2, 2006.

Mr. Carter was born October 4, 1924 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.

Burnice was the son of the late David R. and Florentine Tuten Carter. He was also preceded in death by daughters, Ruth Jeanette Carter and Martha Elizabeth Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 67 [sic] years, Alberta Crawford Carter; daughter, Linda Gail McQuillen of Michigan; sons, Larry J. Carter of Nevada, Kenneth C. Carter of Montana, Rickey Carter of Weaverville, Robby Carter of Montana; sister, Grace Cole of Oteen; brother, Carveth Carter of Fletcher; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Rev. Tony Shelton officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
