Samuel Carpenter, a former resident of Keeneyville, died in Elmira last Tuesday, following an operation for appendicitis.  Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Samuel; his father, Charles Carpenter of Middlebury, and three brothers, Lawrence of Charleston; George of Blossburg; and Earl of Keeneyville.

The remains were brought to the home of Lawrence Carpenter, where the funeral was held Friday at 2 o'clock; interment in the Keeneyville cemetery.

The Late Samuel M. Carpenter --
Samuel M. Carpenter was born at Tiadaghton, PA Sep. 22, 1883, son of Charles E. and Estella Carpenter, and died in Elmira, N.Y. on Oct. 19, 1926.  He married Geneveive Ives, daughter of V. M. and Catherine Ives on 22 June 1904, who survives him with one son Samuel M; his father Charles E. and three brothers, Lawrence C., Earl D., and Clifford G.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister Agnes Pearl.

Mr. Carpenter was a loving husband and father and always stood ready to lend a helping hand to any in need.
