Philip Carpenter, aged 70 years, died Saturday at the Packer Hospital at Sayre. He was taken ill May 7 at Frederick, Md. on the way to his home at Westfield, Pa. from West Palm Beach, Florida.  He had lived in Florida the past three years, spending summers at Westfield.

He was born in Chatham township, Pa. and spent a large part of his life in New York City, where he was formerly with a brokerage company.

Survivors include his widow, one son, Lou Carpenter of Brooklyn and Pearl of Miami, Florida; two brothers Edward and Everett Carpenter of Little Marsh; one sister, Mrs. Lena Southworth of Cowanesque; nieces and nephews, Mrs. Doris Griffith of Westfield; Mrs. Lyle Ferris of Rush; Mrs. Harold Wilson and Mrs. Emma Spurgeon of Mansfield; Mrs. Rufus Owlett of Osceola; Squire Southworth of Cowanesque; Mrs. Joseph Reynolds, Mrs. Ethel Murdock; Lee and Glenn Carpenter of Little Marsh; Paul and Velorus Carpenter of Corning and vicinity.
