OBITUARY

Name:   Mortimer Willard Carpenter

Mortimer W. Carpenter, aged 78 years, of Middlebury, died at his home at 10:30 p.m. Monday, June 17.  He was the son of the late Samuel and Mary Kiphart Carpenter and was born July 11, 1861 in Middlebury township.

For 12 years he was employed by the Fall Brook Railroad and later by the New York Central. In 1900 he returned to his farm where he spent the remainder of his life.

He is survived by four sons, Alvoid M. of Phelps, N.Y.; William H. of Lyons, N.Y.; Loren C. and Ray E. of Middlebury; two daughters, Mabel G., wife of Ray Collins of Charleston and Avah C., at home, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at the home at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, EST, Rev. Orey Crippen of Rossville, assisted by Rev. Orey Bolt, will officiate; burial in the Keeneyville Cemetery.
