Burdell D. Carpenter, aged 71 years, died Monday night about 10 o'clock of apoplexy.  He was stricken early Monday morning.  He was a carpenter by trade and was well known throughout Tioga county.  Mr. Carpenter was born in Chatham township, Tioga county, Pa., July 4, 1858, son of Charles and Sara Cloos Carpenter.

He is survived by his widow Elnora Rice Carpenter; one daughter, Mildred, wife of Dr. John W. Eaton of Wellsboro; two grandchildren, John W. and Jane Carpenter Eaton; four brothers and one sister; Everett E., Chas. V. and Edward E. Carpenter of Little Marsh; Philip T Carpenter of Westfield and Mrs. Lorenzo Southworth of Cowanesque.

He was a member of the M. E. Church of Wellsboro.

The funeral will be held at the late home of the deceased on Walnut street tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. C. F. Hutchinson officiating; burial in the Keeneyville cemetery.
