John J. Buck, eldest son of John and Eliza Cook Buck, was born in Gallatin
County, Illinois, Feb. 21, 1828, died March 27, 1904 at his residence in Beaver
Creek township, aged 76 years, 1 month and 6 days.
He was united in marriage to Dorcas Biggerstaff Oct. 4, 1849, and to this union
were born 10 children, five boys and 5 girls, Warner, John W, Mary, Eliza and
Emma who survive him and those who preceded him to the other land are Sarah,
wife of C. O. Sloan, William H., George W., Laura and Walter H. Besides the
widow and the above named surviving children, he leaves two brothers, William W.
of Beaver Creek township and Alexander of Springton, and a host of relatives and
friends to mourn his loss.
He united with the Christian church at Mt. Pleasant 40 years ago.
Funeral services were held at the family residence Monday and were conducted by
Rev. Bart Kello with interment at Springer cemetery. Quite a number of friends
from the city attended the funeral.
