ROYAL CENTER -- Dr. Eli E. Blickenstaff, 85, of Royal Center, a retired dentist, died at Memorial Hospital in Logansport at 11:15 p.m. Sunday after a lingering illness.
Born in Indiana on Aug. 2, 1876, he was the son of David and Hannah Wagoner Blickenstaff, His first marriage was to Maude Snyder and she died in 1925. In 1927, he was married to Ada Buck and she died in 1958. He had resided in Royal Center since 1935 and practiced dentistry until his retirement.
He was a graduate of North Manchester College and the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He was a member of the Methodist church and a charter member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include six sons: Lloyd L. of Bland, Mo., Walter D. of St. Louis, Albert G., Indianapolis, Eugene F., Royal Center, Ralph G., New York City, and Carl C., Hyattsville, Md.; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Farmer, Indianapolis, Mrs. Helen Hudgens, Lafayette, and Mrs. Rosemary Hurst, Fairview, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd C. of North Manchester and Jesse W., Napa, Idaho; and one sister, Mrs. Della Sutsman of Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home in Royal Center with Rev. Noble Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery at Lafayette.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday.
