George Noble Blair, 82, of Hancock Road, Williamstown, died last evening in Pittsfield General Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the evening.

A life-long resident of Williamstown, Mr. Blair, at an early age, drove the stagecoach from Williamstown to Pittsfield.  He was a member of the Second Congregational Church of South Williamstown where he was custodian for 16 years.  He was retired from the Arnold Print Works, North Adams and the Cornish Wire Co., Williamstown, and worked for the Nelson Roberts Construction Co. in building Mt. Hope Farm.

Mr. Blair served as a Williamstown Assessor for 15 years.  Last year, he and his wife, Alice (Roys) Blair, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.  He was the son of Charles A. and Ida Rebecca (Pease) Blair, both of Williamstown.

Mr. Blair is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Larson of Williamstown; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Bemis, Mrs. Arthur Young and Mrs. Carl Lamb, all of Williamstown; one brother, Lester Blair of Berkshire Village; and a grandson.

There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the cancer fund or the heart fund.

Memorial services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church, Williamstown, with the Rev. John C. Wiley officiating.  The body will be cremated and interment of ashes will follow at a later date at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Williamstown.
