NEW CARLISLE - Mary "Ruth" Biggerstaff, 64, New Carlisle, died at 3:27 a.m. Wednesday (June 23, 2004) at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Biggerstaff was born April 16, 1940, in Hylton, Ky., to William and Hazel (Fleming) Baker. On Feb. 22, 1961, in Michigan City, she married Robbie L. Biggerstaff, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Victoria Biggerstaff, South Bend, and April (Jason) Schimmel, New Carlisle; three sons, Bill Biggerstaff, Key West, Fla., William (Jan) Biggerstaff, New Carlisle, and Robert "Buddy" (Lori) Biggerstaff, New Carlisle; 12 grandchildren, Robert Rea II, Robbie Rea, Amanda Biggerstaff, Lauren Campbell, Billy Warner, Crill Warner, Jessica Hartsell, Heather Warner, Nicole Biggerstaff, Katelyn Locke-Bronson, Destiny Schimmel and Dustin Schimmel; five great-grandchildren, Ali Rea, Aiden Rea, Jacen Rea, Jane Hartsell and Tyler Warner; and two sisters, Shirley (Bob) Looney, New Buffalo, Mich., and Judy Leslie, Michigan City.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Locke, one son, Robbie Lee Biggerstaff  II, and one brother, William Baker.

Mrs. Biggerstaff was a member of the Hudson Mennonite Church. She was a former member of the Hudson Lake School Parent-Teacher Organization 3 and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 94 of LaPorte.
